Is Your Coaching Qualification Providing You With Everything You Need?

We have made sure that our students have everything they need to become fully certified under ICF up to PCC level - from training materials to coach experience and on-going support. But not all programmes are made the same! Just take a look at this enquiry we received from one of our strategy calls…

Why is this student looking to get certified elsewhere?

They have completed 60 training hours which is enough for ACC certification, but their qualification didn’t provide the ICF mentor coaching, which is an essential requirement for ANY ICF credential, even Level 1. So now, they are stuck looking for another training provider, wasting both time and money to achieve their certification.

What is ICF Mentor Coaching?

ICF Mentor Coaching is one of the key live training requirements set out by the ICF. This is where you get to polish your coaching technique and apply the feedback you receive from your mentor in practice, further honing your skills.

The way that this is usually done is by submitting recordings of client coaching sessions to the ICF, then waiting for their feedback - it can take up to 3 months to get your results.

With us, you don’t have to organise these recordings or wait for an assessment - we are authorised by the ICF to assess students on their behalf, which means that our students get their feedback immediately, and are able to instantly put it into practice. Plus, there’s no extra admin with sending your recordings and you get to practice your coaching skills in small and supportive peer groups.

Both of our ICF accredited programmes include ICF Mentor Coaching, which means you won’t have to look elsewhere…

Is ACC Certification enough?

Let’s go back to that original student’s message. Their 60 training hours are technically enough to get accredited to ACC (Associate Certified Coach) level, providing they complete the ICF Mentor Coaching and 100 coach experience hours required by the ICF. But is that enough?

In executive coaching, clients are really looking for the PCC (Professional Certified Coach) or ICF Level 2 qualification. This requires 125 training hours, 500 coach experience hours and successful completion of ICF Mentor Coaching - which means, to secure top level clients, this student would have to look for another provider again, who can facilitate their PCC level training. This is where cheaper coach training providers aren’t as cheap as they seem - with all these additional costs and time spent, you’re better off going with someone who can provide you with everything you need to become a knowledgeable, well-paid and fully certified executive coach.
